One of the wonderful privileges I've had over the last 15 years of ministry is to participate in what most churches call "Summer Series." On Wednesday nights, churches do a merry mix up so far as preachers are concerned. A guest speaker, usually one of the area preachers, comes to preach on an assigned topic or text or just "preach your favorite." It has been a wonderful opportunity for churches to hear a variety of perspectives and has provided wonderful fellowship for preachers with other congregations. It brings about, I believe, a deeper fellowship and sense of cooperation among congregations, and a deeper appreciation for the men each congregation has chosen to minister among them. I was privileged to be in Midland last Wednesday night at the North A and Tennessee church, a place I've been to several times. I am always encouraged by the sweet fellowship and support there. Greg Fleming is their preacher and has been for over 14 years. I don't know anyone who does any more reading that Greg. Some weeks I receive several links from him to articles or sites that provide opportunities for personal growth in ministry and personal preparation to "preach the word." Also he keeps up with the latest in good eating places on the way to and in the area of Austin. He is the chief correspondant for the "Gourmet Preachers Tour." That's a whole 'nother blog.:-) The North A church loves and appreciates Greg. Greg loves and appreciates the North A church. And each of these has expressed a deep love and appreciation for me as a fellow worker in the kingdom. Thanks North A and Greg for showing us how to be "the church" where you are!
