Ministry has taken on a new look in the Money household. On October 1st, Sherilyn and I moved into our new home in Odessa. I have retired from full time church work, and am working for a safety training company. It has allowed us some freedom to "visit around" at churches in Odessa/Midland, something that was never possible when I was employed by a church. The first month of our residence here, I traveled back to Sterling City on Sundays to preach for them until their "new" preacher could get there. I put new in quotes because I'm talking about Don Davis, whom I followed to Sterling City. I am thankful to God for His provision in all of this that has made this a very seamless transition. Don's return certainly made it less stressful for us to leave. We learned to love deeply, the folks at Sterling City. The community support was overwhelming and the church was such a blessing to us as we became more and more involved in the lives of the people there. We will always consider the Sterling City family our family.
As mixed as our emotions were in leaving Sterling City, there was no mixing of our emotions in being back home in Odessa. It was elation. Already, we've basked in the warmth of our grand kids' love and hugs daily. Sherilyn is keeping Presley while Cherise teaches, so she sees the grand kids every day. My schedule is such, that I am finished most days while Presley is still there and I'm usually at home when Cherise and the boys come get Presley. I'm on the "rotation" to pick kids up, deliver kids, etc. It is the perfect world of a grandparent. We so missed that daily contact when we were 80 miles away. And we have begun our "visiting around" to churches in the area. That's been great in renewing fellowship with folks from days gone by. We still feel "at home" in each place, though it has been some years since we worked there with some of the places. That is the sweetness in the fellowship in Christ Jesus. It is like God is giving me a gift of this freedom to enjoy the fruits of 40 years of fellowship and labor among the churches in the Permian Basin. So the question comes to us often, "Where are you going to church?" And yes we will settle in somewhere in the not too distant future. But for now, I'm just going to enjoy the wonderful gift God is giving, allowing us the freedom to to "roam." Until now, God has always made the choice for us by calling us to a specific church. Now He seems to be saying, enjoy the freedom to choose for yourself. Thank you God for this wonderful gift!
