Quick Report on Granddaddy: He is making good progress. In fact, he got in trouble with the nurse tonight when he got out of his bed by himself and went to the bathroom. He got a big grin on his face and said, "I'm not going to do that any more.":-) He is doing well with his therapy. I am able to go down a couple or three times a day. I ate lunch with him today at noon. Tommy and Pat came tonight and visited. Sherilyn got home this afternoon and we all went and ate and then went for a visit. There is a little concern regarding his swallowing and his speech. There seems to be some evidence of "tia strokes" that may be at the bottom of all of this. The PT and OT are bringing in a speech therapist to help with this. He did quite a bit of walking today so he was pretty tired tonight. Reese and the boys will be here Saturday and he is excited to see them. Funny story-the other night the PT & OT were both here late and he did about 1 1/2 hrs straight. After the OT was done, the pt took him out on the front patio. One of the little old lady alzheimer's patients decided she wanted to go out too. Of course her "bracelet" caused the alarm to sound and there was quite a bit of activity for a bit. In the meantime, we got finished and started back in. The little lady who had been coaxed back in by one of the aids with "the cool night air will be a little much" had gone to her room and got a sweater and was on her way out again. Of course when we were going through the door, she was coming out and the alarm sounded again. The charge nurse wasn't very happy with her on was trying to "help" her in by grabbing her arm, at which she protested with some choice words. She then asked me, are you coming in? and I said yes the mosquitoes are getting bad and that turned her around. Then she and 2 or 3 other little old ladies began to follow us and followed us all the way to Granddaddy's room. And they were all coming in. Finally the therapists closed the door and the nurses and aids got them all herded down to their rooms. It was hilarious. I think Granddaddy was oblivious to it all, but the therapists and I got a big kick out of it. Granddaddy has a great attitude about being here. He told me today they were taking really good care of him. He played bingo a couple of days ago, and yesterday when I went in, he was playing dominoes. Between that and the therapy, he stays pretty active. Also stays tired. He is eating good though and gets stronger every day. OK, so has anyone ever known me to give a "quick report?"
