RANDOM THOUGHTS.......

1) I've been noticing lately, while clicking on the blogs that I enjoy following, that the blogging craze appears to be fading with the sunset. Has anyone else noticed that? Could it be that bloggers have grown tired of airing their diaries and pictures over the Internet for everyone to see? Or could it be that Facebook and/or My Space has taken over their interest and they no longer have time for updating their blogs? Regardless of the reasons, it makes me sad. I really enjoy reading others' thoughts and keeping up with what's going on in their lives.....especially my own children's blogs...hint, hint. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have alot of room to complain here since I've never been a fan of publically sharing my innermost thoughts and feelings. Maybe I'm a private person or maybe I'm just boring and have nothing worth sharing with the general public. I suppose the verdict is still out on that one. And maybe not............

2)I am beyond excited about being presented with another grandbaby in a few months! The sonogram tells us this baby is a girl. Sonograms have been known to lie, though, so I'm not totally ruling out blue as the primary nursery color yet.

3)I am planning to decorate our Christmas tree today and Thanksgiving is still 6 days away! My mother-in-law would not approve of this decision. She was always very verbal about her dismay when stores started decorating and playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving. She was also very verbal about the fact that Christmas should be celebrated as Jesus' birthday without all the commericialism, expensive gifts, etc. Well, Granny, I still respect your opinion about that, but a girls gotta do what a girl has time to do. And in your memory, I will display the nativity scene in a very prominent place....even though it IS being placed there before Thanksgiving.

4)And my final random thought for now is about POLICTICS. (Just kidding. I won't go there.....right now. I'll wait until February.) But it IS about our country's economic situation. Every where we turn, friends and family are losing jobs and losing money in the stock market fiasco, etc., etc. Hence, they are losing their homes and means to support their families. There are very few people who haven't been touched by all of this, including my family and yours. Times are tough and may get much tougher before this is over with. There's not much doubt about the fact that we will have to give up some of our luxuries and toys and change our way of doing and thinking about things in general. But I pray that we remember Who is in control here. Gloom and doom is all around us, but God is the same always and He is faithful to provide what we need when we fully rely on Him. We, not only as individuals but also as a Nation, still have so many blessings to be thankful for. Let's dwell on the positive and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

And that's all I have to say about that for now.

Nice to hear from you, Sherilyn!

I wrote a while about about how it seemed like blogging was fading, but I think that it just has seasons of greater, then lesser activity by the particular people we follow. It still has its place.

Congrats on the baby! :-)

Lynn always said that when his youth group kids started having kids of their own that made him a Grand-youth minister.

Are you a GREAT-grand youth minister yet???

Jim,
Yes I am. I don't know exactly how many. But I do know of a couple of "grand youth" in the Austin area who have children. All of my "Monahans youth group" are of the age to have grandchildren, though I haven't heard specifically of any who are.
